It’s a good week to support good causes through live music.
Several local artists are on the bill for the Shuffle Up and Deal final celebrations, Nov. 10 at Owl Acoustic Lounge.
Shuffle Up And Deal had 53 local artists design individual playing cards which will be sold to raise money for the Adult Special Needs program at the Bowman Arts Centre. The decks are done and for sale for $15 each, but this event will feature the final auction of the original pieces of art which appear on the cards.
There are also door prizes and live music from local musicians including Steven Foord, Daryll Düus, Matt Robinson and Brenna Lowrie who will be performing at the event. It is a free event but for $25 you can reserve a seat as well as take home one of the decks of cards plus get raffle tickets for some pretty cool prizes.
The other event for a good cause this week is the Lethbridge College Fashion Fundraiser, which takes place, Nov. 13 at the Slice. Musicians performing include the Necessities, Bridgette Yarwood, Jesse Northey and Leisha Miller.
The other charity gig this week features the Dudes, who along with local country/pop singer Alyssa McQuaid and TBD, will be raising money for the Interfaith Food Bank as part of the Alberta Untapped Concert Series. The show takes place at the Slice. Admission is $15.
For fans of classic pop music, Neil Diamond-style, Average Joes is bringing in the “World Famous Tribute To Neil Diamond,” Nov. 12. Tickets cost $15 for the show which begins at 9 p.m.
The Slice has a couple solid mid week rock shows as well including the Mike Plume band on Nov. 14 and Henry and the Nightcrawlers, Nov. 15.
If you like country music, One More Girl plays Average Joes, Nov. 13 while Breanne Urban is at HB’s Lounge the same night.
There are lots of open mics this week, as per usual. The Lethbridge Folk Club has their open mic on Friday. Plus the former Thursday Beaches open mic has been moved to Tuesdays as of today.
