While last week was a great week for the blues in Lethbridge, this week has a more exotic flavour.
The reggae stylings of Bedouin Soundclash provide the biggest show of the week on Aug. 10 at the Blarney Stone (see the interview on L.A. Beat).
However, that’s not the only one. On Aug. 5, the Chloe Hall Trio are coming to Slice all the way from Australia. Their pop harmonies will be enhanced by local openers Austria.
A couple streets away, also on Aug 5 (Wednesday) Henotic is taking on a more eastern flavour as they welcome back Vancouver’s From Delhi 2 Dublin.
And if you are feeling Irish, Average Joes downtown is bringing back east coast Celtic quartet the Irish Descendants, Aug. 6.
Numerous local acts are playing entertaining shows this week include a long awaited return of blues rockers Paul Kype and Texas Flood, who play the Slice, Aug. 7. If you are heading out of town, bluesman Zac Harmon plays Blues at the Bow in Bow Island, Aug. 7 as well.
The Duke of Wellington Wellington welcomes local favourites the Myelin Sheaths, the Moby Dicks and TV Eel on Aug. 5.
And the Darby and Joan Club hit Henotic with Animal Names, Heat Ray and Savk on Aug. 7.
Henotic also has a fun show, welcoming the more musically inclined former employees of Convergys and all of their fans, Aug. 8. The Necessities are on the bill along with local alternative rockers Planet Telex.
And one of my favourite alt country bands the Skillettlikkers play the Slice the same night.
Plus , if you enjoy classic rock hits and show tunes, New West Theatre opens their new production “Celebration” this week at the Yates Theatre. It runs until Aug. 4- 29.
