Local jazz/ pop band Dalliance Elixir featuring the lovely and talented Jolene Draper didn’t have as many people as I thought would be at their show, Aug. 20 at the Owl Acoustic lounge.
They alternated between songs including Fleetwood Mac and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” with their own original jazzy material.
Brad Brouwer kept the beat steady, while Murray Nelson played tasteful blues lead guitar as Bruce Roome held down the bottom end on bass.
As always Jolene Draper sounded beautiful especially on “Time After Time.” She leaped up and down like a jitterbug as she saig beautiful melodies.
Some of the highlights were original’s “Dust,” and “Deal Breaking Shake,” as well as my favourite “My Shadow.
They wound down their set with a cool verison of Ida Marie’s “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked,” and a dazzling verison of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit,” before eneding on a high note with a Janis Joplin song.
