Though they have been together for less than a year, Lethbridge psychobilly trio the Phantom Creeps have come a long way. They have done 30 shows all over western Canada but most notably, 
drummer Dean Wilson is excited about the Phantom Creeps’ new self titled CD.
“It’s a mixture of rockabilly, psychobilly and punk,” Wilson said of the 11 track CD which is all original material except a cover of “Bright Side” from a little known American band called Those Poor Bastards.
“Tyler (Brownfield, stand up bassist/singer) and I just finished the tracking in our top secret practice facility and took it down to Crossroads Studio for mastering,” Wilson said adding they welcomed new guitarist, Jon Vornbrock who plays with local alternative rock act, the Void, shortly after the recording was completed as they parted ways with their original guitarist, Evan Herbst, who plays on the CD.
“We knew Jon through friends from the Void and Atrophy Manuscript and wanted to play with him. So it just took one phone call and we had a guitar player,” Wilson said adding the band is pleased with the CD.
“We all work full time, so start to finish it took three to three and a half weeks to record it, which isn’t bad,” he continued adding they have been doing a fair amount of touring on weekends and have had a lot of interest in their music on Myspace and their website, http://www.phantomcreeps.com. The myspace connection lead them to a DJ in Australia who will be adding their CD to the playlist.
“ He listened to the tracks on myspace and liked them so we’re getting a CD in the mail to him this week. We’re excited about that,” Wilson added, noting they also took the band “One False Move” on tour with them and are looking forward to playing the zombie walk, Oct. 4 with the Brains. They will be going to Vancouver to play Halloween with the Deadcats, a well known rockabilly band.
“The Halloween show will be sold out. It’s a big show for us. We’re looking forward to it. And the Deadcats are trying to get us a gig in Victoria as well,” he enthused.
They are also looking forward to a Sept. 11 show in Edmonton with Eve Hell and the Razors, the Benders and the Raygun Cowboys.
