Edmonton based alt-country orchestra The Uncas are back and writing new music. They tore up the Slice, Nov. 5 by playingThe Uncas’ Sean Brewer plays power tools with his guitar. Photo by Richard Amery their new music as well some crowd favourites.
It isn’t often you get to see dueling lap steel guitars, but the Uncas had it as well as harmonized lead guitars and superb vocal  harmonies. While Sean Brewer sang most of the lead vocals, each member got to shine.
they started on an upbeat note with dueling lap steel guitars and noted they were only playing three “reunion” shows, one of them in Lethbridge.

Another highlight was their “Odyssey,” song, about a land of hurricanes, which Brewer said was four songs mixed into one and sounded like it with multiple time tempo changes and plenty of twin lead guitars, which fitted together ideally.

They also played an upbeat rocker they wrote abotu the Perpetrators’ Jay Nowicki, featuring triple lead guitars.
They ended their energetic , countrified set by playing a new song  plus another dual lap steel battle and Brewer using a power saw and an electric drill on his guitar pickups.
