Jenny Allen is looking forward to returning to Lethbridge to play the Slice with Leslie Alexander, Jan. 27.
“It will the the third rinse of our dirty laundry tour,” shivered Allen who recently arrived back in chilly Calgary from Toronto where she was playing gigs.
The poplar folk/ country duo will be playing several gigs in late January, early February before escaping the cold to spend a week in Memphis for the Folk Alliance conference, Feb. 25.
“It will be the first time for me going to Memphis and the first for Allen and Alexander,” she said adding she has played Folk Alliance conferences before but not since it moved to Memphis.
“I’m looking forward to going to the Civil Rights Museum and yes, I’ll probably go to Graceland. If there’s time,” she enthused.
They will be playing numerous shows and making lots of contacts. She is looking forward to being in Memphis for the conference.
“We’re there for five days, so there‘s the official showcases, shows and guerilla shows in hotel rooms,” she said.
While Allen and Alexander have considered recording a CD together, they may already have the makings of one, since they both add extra vocal harmonies and instrumentation to each others songs when performing as Allen and Alexander.
“We might turn it into a release. We have two different shows recorded, so we’ll listen to them and see,” she said.
In the meantime they are playing a lot of small towns, including Twin Butte right before Lethbridge and Fernie right after.
The show at the Slice begins at approximately 8 p.m.
