It is always fun to hear a new band playing blues in Lethbridge, so I had to go across town to Jimmy’s Brasserie for the second gig of Driving While Blind, who often play the increasingly Jimmy’s popular Friday night jam.
They played a rocking and tight set of familiar blues rock including the Rolling Stones “I Used To Love Her,” and a touching version of Eric Clapton‘s “Wonderful Tonight,” which had a few dancing in the aisles.
They added laid back versions of surf classic “Misirlou” and “Suzie Q.” They also played a beautiful version of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “The Sky is Crying,” with a beautiful tasteful solo.
While the crowd started to trickle out, they promised to “get a little crazy,” but wound things down with ZZ Top’s “Tush.”
