The new CD was produced by Rob Szabo, a fine singer/ songwriter in his own right who sounds very similar to Katz. Or is it vice versa?
Katz Starts slow with “Day and Nights” but picks up the pace on the catchy “Thunder In Your Chest” with a catchy acoustic guitar riff and beautiful vocal melodies like Ron Sexsmith.
He doesn’t pick up the pace much until track five “This Town.”
But he hits his stride in “Dead,” the CDs stand-out track thanks to an upbeat melody and a catchy acoustic guitar hook.
Pleasant acoustic guitar and whispered vocals are the earmarks of Katz’s new CD.
While the CD sounds very laid back and similar, it grows on the listener. After a few listens, even I found myself humming his melodies when I least expected to, especially “Dear.” His melodies are addictive and his guitar playing is appealing, though you have to really listen, because of the soft vocals.
Katz has a knack for singing a sugar sweet vocal melody.
The spine-tingling chorus of “Win Your Heart” sticks in the brain.
He ends the Cd on a relatively faster note with “ It’s Just Not the Night.”
