Edmonton area songwriter Jake Ian played an intimate solo set for about 20 people out for the Wednesday night L.A. Beat open jam at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Aug. 1.
He sounded like a James Taylor as he ran through several country/ folk originals and Townes Van Zant’s “Bucking Stallion Blues.”
Bruce Springsteen’s “These Cars.”
He usually is backed by his band, the Haymakers, but was on his own for several originals including the exceptional “Hide Your Guns,” “4,000 Miles away” and the tender mid-tempo ballad “Josephine,” which he ended his set with.
