Alyssa McQuaid releases new CD to enthusiastic audience

E-mail Print PDF

Alyssa McQuaid and her brother Brendon playing her CD release party, Feb. 23. Photo by Richard Amery I caught the end of Alyssa McQuaid’s release party for her new CD “This is Your Song.”

She  had a full house  of family and friends at Honkers Pub, Feb. 23 for the release, which also helped raise money for the YWCA. While I missed opening acts Tyrel Hawke and JohnPaul Smith of the Coal Creek Boys, I caught much of McQuaid’s set.

As always she sang pleasant melodies with her lovely voice. I caught a few numbers from her new, very laid back EP and a couple  popular covers including Cee Lo Green’s ‘Forget You,” and The Band Perry’s “ Better Dig Two.” She brought her brother Brendon  up on stage to play extra guitar and drums.

She ended with her always excellent cover of Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
