Zojo Black rock the blues again

E-mail Print PDF

Greg Gomola of Zojo Black. Photo by Richard AmeryZojo Black returned to rock the Slice blues style, May 18.

They didn’t have a lot of people, however Greg Gomola and a rejigged Texas Flood  rocked a set of blues rock music.

Paul Kype sat back on bass while  Steve Keenan traded solos with  Gomola.
Keyboardist  Earl McAuly kept the groove on the keys while  Drummer Brad Valgardson held everything together.

As usual as a Zojo Black show, they played catchy songs from their CD and there was plenty of hot guitar playing. I arrived in the middle of their Johnny Cash medley of Folsom Prison Blues and “Get Rhythm.” They ended their set with their always fun version of Deep Purple’s “Hush.”
