Lots of laughs and LSCO rocks the block this week

There will be lots of laughter this week.
The Drama Nutz are back with bring Your Own Chair Improv, June 7 at the NAAG Gallery (255 12C St N). As always it begins at 8 p.m. in the NAAG gallery. Admission is eight dollars if you bring your own chair, $10 of you don’t. Expect a night full of improvised scenes, songs, crazy costumes and the table of contents, where you can buy the cast members a specific costume,  prop or handicap them so they have to perform a scene without sight, sound or being able to talk. The performers this week include David Adie, Jon Kirsch, Rayne-Anne Latchford, Mark Ogle and Hannah Rud with Erica Barr providing the music and David Gabert hosting.


Also for comedy buffs, Average Joes  hosts Yuk Yuks comedy  on June 7. This week, Adam Delorey will be headline, with  Sean Emeny opening the show and Randy Webb hosting. The show begins at 9 .m. There is a $10 cover.
And comedian Daryl Makk returns to Lethbridge after several years to perform at Scores, on Monday, June 13 with James Moore, Serena Shane and Randy Webb. Doors open at 8 p.m., with the show beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.

It is the first weekend of June, which means it is time for LSCO to rock the block again.


This year it is a two day event beginning with a country night, June 7 beginning at  5:30 p.m. with Fast Times,  followed by LSCO rocks the block country style 5:30 p.m. Fast Times, Hurtin’, The Coal Creek Boys and Southern Flyer with Breanne Urban finishing things off at 8:30 p.m.

 LSCO rocks the block again, June 8 beginning at noon with Lethbridge hard rock band Shocked Standards followed by Soup of Flies, Who’s Yer Daddy. Steel Cut, Rex, Billie Vegas, Texas Flood, Unzipped and the Raw Dogs at 8 p.m. There will also be vendors, raffles and a beer gardens though there is a $10 cover charge to enter the beer gardens.


 There are also a couple of excellent  folk/ and roots show this week with Matt Epp and his band the Amorian Assembly returning to the Slice, June 7. He is  touring in support of his new more rock and roll influenced  CD “Learning to Lose Control.” There is a $10 cover for the show, which is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m..

 Edmonton songwriter Scott Cook also has a new CD out. He will be bringing “Another Time Around” to the Slice, June 6 along with a new, trimmed down band. There is also a  $10 cover for that show as well.
 And The Geomatic Attic also has a show this week with Estevan, Saskatchewan born New York resident Ana Egge, who recorded her seventh CD “Bad Blood”  with Steve Earle. It will be their last show of the season before their annual summer blast off outdoor show at the end  of June.


 Tickets cost $30 in advance, $32.50 at the door. The show begins at 8 p.m. sharp.
 If you like more mainstream country music, don’t miss Julian Austin at  Casino Lethbridge on Thursday, June 6.


 And as always, there are a lot of local shows. If you missed local modern rock band the Void’s CD release party on the weekend, they will be at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, June 6 with Planet Telex and Mr. Personal. There is no cover for the show.


 Other local highlights include Gordon Leigh and the Naked Ear at Ric’s Grill, June 7 and Alyssa McQuaid and Tyler Gilbert at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, June 8. James Oldenburg returns to Ric’s Grill, June 5 and Medicine Hat folk/ rock duo Mahoney return to the Shark Club on June 7.
