Never afraid to dare to be different, their new CD “Crank City” combines rock music with disco music. the ensuing tour includes dancers and new costumes as well.
“ The last time we played Lethbridge it was for a Star Wars show and I got to dress as Hank Solo. I was very proud of my Hans Solo costume. It  kicked ass,” laughed Hank Pine on the way to do a radio interview.
But now, Crank City is the new project.

“It’s very much science fiction. It’s very polarizing, but people are really appreciating it,” he said adding most of their fan base have followed them through this project.
The  story, which also has a new comic book drawn by Hank Pine, is about a time in the future where robots have been designed to serve humans’ every need.

“ We land in this world. They are the bottom layer and humans are on the top layer until there’s a big coup d’etat,” he described.
They changed musical direction for this CD departing from the strange folk music they made their name.

““ Its a techno album. there’s no cello on it at all. I couldn’t find a place for it. It‘s a rock/ disco hybrid. Most people tend to do just rock music or they just do disco,” he observed.
“ So it’s very unique,” he said.

Lily Fawn, who plays a plethora of instruments including  drums, trumpet, flute, saw, ukulele and much more is excited about playing Chicks With Picks as well as sharing the stage with Carolyn Mark. It will be one of three shows they will be playing with Mark.

“ It’s chicks with picks, but we’ll  provide the dance party,” Lily Fawn said.
“We have some girl dancers with us this time who dance to disco and techno music,” she said.
They will also be wearing new costumes.

“ I’ve got a white sporting outfit and Lily will be in a hot pink onesie,” Hank Pine described.
“And there might be a cape involved,” he continued.

“ We’ll be definitely playing the new album and we’ll play some older songs too,“ Pine said.
The show will begin at 8 p.m., June 24. Carolyn Mark, Shaela Miller  and Brenna Lowrie are also on the bill. There will be a $10 cover.
