They will also be playing the South Country Fair for the first time throughout the weekend.

“It will be our first time at the Fair and the Owl too. It’s going to be a blast. A lot of the people we know have played it. And we’ve heard so many good things about it,” said vocalist/ guitarist/ harmonica player Jessica Rae Ayre after their set at the Dauphin Country Festival.

“We’re ready for it,” she continued adding they are excited about working on new music in between playing a lot of gigs close to home.
“ We have some new stuff we’ve been playing and it’s been really well received,” she continued, adding they have added a little bit of electric guitar to their new music.

They have tapped into the talents of fellow Winnipegger, Imaginary Cities Rusty Matyas to work on their upcoming album.
“ He’s been amazing. He has tonnes of ideas. There are a lot of extra things he’s added,” she said.
They are in the middle of pre-production for the new CD, which they are recording in between local gigs.
“ It’s been go, go, go, but we’re excited about it,” she enthused.

“ It (the new music) has more pop in it but it’s still folk rock and there is still a lot of vocal harmonies, because that’s what we’re known for,” she continued adding a lot of the music is very much stripped down as well. One of her new favourite songs  features just  Amber Neilsen’s banjo and the band stomping on a suitcase.
Michelle Anderson completes the trio on banjo, electric guitar and vocals.

In addition to  their new music  they have also added covers of  songs by Jonathan Byrd and Woody Guthrie onto their set.
“We’re really, really excited to play the Owl. We hope to pass on a little bit of the energy on to South Country Fair,” she said.
