Electronic Music Festival and a lot of blues this week

There is pretty much something for everyone this week, especially people who like the blues.


 Moose Jaw based bluesman Whiteboy Slim will be playing Average Joes, Aug. 17. He is getting ready to release his fifth CD. But is ready to expand minds and musical palates by blending the blues with world music, jazz and even hip hop. Tickets for the show are $10.
 If you like classic rock plus the blues, don’t miss Jerry Doucette and his band at Casino Lethbridge on Thursday, Aug. 15. He is best known for his massive hit “Mama Let Him Play, but plays high energy rocking blues. There is no cover for the show which begins at 8 p.m. Blues fans will also be excited to hear Erin Ross when she returns to the Mocha Cabana, Aug. 16. Kevan Tolley returns to the Owl, Aug. 17.


 If your tastes lean more towards pop music pop starlet Selena Gomez plays the Enmax Centre, Aug. 16.
 If you like more guitar powered pop music Jason and the Diatonics also play Aug. 16 at the Moose Hall. They blend pop with rock and a lot of R and B and Soul and features former Lethbridge residents  Jason  Poulsen and Jim McLaren. Tickets are $10.

Folk fans will want to check out Faye Blais, who returns to Lethbridge to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Aug 16. She was last in Lethbridge a few months ago with Australian blues rock trio Jungal. She will be joined by Tereza Tomek.


 If you want to dance, you will want to be at Galt Gardens, Aug. 17 for  LEMF 2013.

The second annual Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival features 24 local and regional DJS and electronic music artists performing for 12 hours on two different stages. the Luminosity stage features  :
(11-12 Sgt. Depth Charge ; 12-1 Brickhouse; 1-2 Reverin ; 2-3 Spiral Architects; 3-4 Koot.c; 4-5 Oh Aces; 5-6 Fuze; 6-7 McTwist; 7-8 Opie ; 8-9 Mittz; 9-10 ERWIN the INTERN;10-11 Deeps).  The official LEMF 2013 afterparty is at Essies featuring Spiral Architects, Groovy Cuvy Streeter vs ChiFlo and Gray. It runs  from 10:30 p.m.- 2 a.m.

If dance music makes you want to bang your head, the Slice features a metal show, Aug. 17 with Auckland , New Zealand born, Vancouver based metal band West of Hell and Toronto power metal band Crimson Shadows. the Headbangers Society is putting on the show. There a $10 cover.
Last but not least, for something a little quieter and more country/ pop, Tod Robinson and the Gleu return to the Slice, Aug. 16.


 More mellow Tod Robinson and the Gleu back at the Slice, Aug. 16. For a contrast, indie rock band Jesse and the Dandelions and progressive rock trio Lustre Creame are also on the bill.
