Calgary rock band Go For the Eyes play Lethbridge so often they might as well be honourary Lethbridgians.
They were at the University of Lethbridge Fresh Fest last month and are excited to play two Go For the Eyes return to Lethbridge, Oct. 8. Photo by Richard AmeryLethbridge gigs in October including one this week at the Slice, Oct. 8 with Regina’s Indigo Joseph.

They often play the Owl Acoustic Lounge including last Halloween for which they dressed up.

“This will be the first time we’ve played the Slice,” said Go For the Eyes guitarist/ Vocalist Jeff Turner.

“ It will be with Indigo Joseph, who are from Regina and doing big things. And the other gig is a Cospay afterparty at the Owl Acoustic Lounge Oct. 18 with another Calgary band Windigo,” he said adding they are coming up with costume ideas for the Oct. 18 show which is the after party for the Lethbridge Comicon.

“ We were just at Freshfest at the University an that is a great festival. It was really well organized. I remember enjoying  those  when I was in university, so it meant a lot to be able to play one. That’s fantastic,” he said.

They always enjoy Lethbridge shows.
“ Audiences there just get it and we really respect that We’ve always been well received in Lethbridge,” he said.

They always try to keep the show different.
“ We usually play the Owl, but this is a new venue for us. All of them are different,” he said.
“We just want to improve every time you see us. We’re a Nord keyboard punk rock punch in the face band,” he said adding they are always exploring their sound.

“ Elise (singer/ keyboardist) Roller and I  are playing  acoustically, but we’re always trying to do something different” he continued.

their most recent EP “Fifteen Through Twenty” reflects their evolution as it is incorporating more keyboard.

“It’s a continuation of our first EP ‘Six Through Twelve’ but it shows us going forward,” Turner said.
“This one features more Nord keyboard and is more psych rock and roll cosmic music with a couple of slower songs. That's the genre we feel we’re tapping into” he said adding it has quite a bit of variety on it.

“There is more  rock and roll but also pop to balance it out. So it is a good eclectic mix, of something we did with the intention of being different” he continued.
People seem to like the new music. They have played the NorthbyNortheast festival in Toronto and have spent much of the spring and summer on the road.

They plan to record again in late 2014 and early 2015.
“It’s almost ski season and winter festival season, which is kind of weird to say,”  Turner said.
