Jay Bowcott and Brady Enslen returned to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Oct. 4 to play a variety of obscure alt country covers and a few originals for a decent audience.
“One man band Jay Bowcott sat behind a stripped down drum kit, stomping out rhythm while singing, playing guitar and sometimes adding a harp solo.
Brady Enslen stood and played lead guitar, adding extra background vocals and even sang one of his own songs.
I walked in in time to hear a great version of Jason Isbell’s up beat honky tonk rocker “ I Don’t Want to Die In A Super 8 Motel.”
They also tackled “Gimmie Something Good” a brand new track off of Ryan Adams’ brand new, hot off the press album. It sounded pretty good, though the duo didn’t seem to think so.
They played “The Highway,” one of the originals off of Bowcott's new CD and went back to covers including a decent version of Tom Petty's ” Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” and open stage standby “Folsom Prison Blues.”
Enslen got to play his country song “Drive a Mile” as well.
