This year hasn’t been too shabby for Toronto based alternative folk collective the Strumbellas who have taken home a truckload of awards for their second, 2013  Cd “We Move on Dance Floors.”
They return to Lethbridge to play the Geomatic Attic, Nov. 4.The Strumbellas play the Geomatic Attic, Nov. 4
To coincide with the American release of their album, they also released a new video for  “ Ride On.”
“ We just rented a camera and filmed ourselves running around the streets of Chicago. We did it all in 48 hours,” said Strumbellas  guitarist/singer Simon Ward.

The album won the 2014 Juno award for best  folk and traditional album of the year, the 2014  Sirius Indie Award for folk/ roots album of the year and made the long list for the 2014 Polaris prize.
“ It’s been not too shabby,” Ward said.

“ It’s been a fun  year for sure and we  definitely did not expect it,” he  continued.
“It’s not that we don’t think about  it, we just don’t let it affect the music or the live performance,” he said.

“We make music for the fans and face the fundamental fact that we can’t let it go to our heads,” he said.
It has been about a year since they last played Lethbridge, so Ward is excited about returning.

“ We’ve been touring our butts off since then, so hopefully we’ve gotten better,” he said adding they are trying to make inroads into the United  States.

“  We have a mixed bag of shows there.  It depends where we go. Places lie Chicago are good to us , but in North Carolina, people haven’t heard of us but they are receptive,” he continued.

The band isn’t  thinking about a new CD yet.
“ Not really. We are playing some new stuff. But we’re definitely l taking our time. Here’s hoping for a really good, fun and exciting record. We’re just taking our time to do it,” he said.

They are excited to play the Geomatic Attic.

“ It's going to be totally a fun show. I hope everybody comes out and has a good time,” he said.
Tickets cost $27.50 for the show which begins at 8 p.m.
