Boom Booms set down soulful groove

E-mail Print PDF

Vancouver based R and B/ soul collective the Boom Booms set down an upbeat, cheerful and danceable groove for a decent sized, Wednesday night crowd at the Slice, Jan. 28.The Boom Booms get ready. photo by Richard Amery
They featured a whole lot of groovy bass from Geordie Hart, toe tapping percussion and reggae tinged, pop fuelled melodies which  drew a lot of dancers to the front of the stage.

Everybody got to solo as the groove kept going strong.

Lead vocalist Aaron Ross and his brother Sean alternated  on keyboards and lead vocals for a couple of songs. Drummer Richard Brinkman and percussionist Theo Vincent took turns behind each other’s instruments for a couple of songs while guitarist Tom Van Deursen stood in the shadows, emerging every so often to provide a tasteful solo of his own.

They were called back for a couple encores before ending the night around 11 p.m.
