Rum Runner provides punk tinged fun

A fundraiser for the victims of the Haiti hurricane featured several performers including Fat Baby Jake, Jenn Pellerin and Jesse And the Dandelions.

But I caught an outstanding, though brief, set of theirs at the Slice’s blues jam, Jan. 19 which also featured performances by Darryl Düus and hosts Paul Kype and Texas Flood.

I caught the tail end of  Jesse and the Dandelions’ version of the Violent Femmes’ ‘Blister in the Sun’ which closed off Henotic’s Haiti fundraiser.

Upstairs, Lethbridge’s punk community  was out in force and crammed in front of the GCBC stage for Chief Mountain, Audio Rocketry and Rum Runner.

I caught the end of Chief Mountain’s loud punk flavoured set and much of Edmonton duo Audio Rocketry’s guitar and bass powered celtic flavoured punk which had everyone bouncing.

Rum Runner expressed their appreciation for the great turnout and said Lethbridge was among their favourite places to play. They said they play Lethbridge every February or March. They took requests from the frothing crowd who were singing and shouting along with almost every line and bounced with every catchy upbeat chord.
