Australian rockers the Lazys feel right at home in Canada.
They almost spend more time here then they do at home.

“We started the Black Rebel tour in Australia with nine or 10 shows before coming here. But you people really love your rock and roll, so we might as well keep coming back,” said lead guitarist Matt Morris after a long drive from Winnipeg to a touThe Lazys’ Matt Morris of the Slice bar.  They return to Lethbridge to play Average Joes, Dec. 17 with One Bad Son in support of “Black Rebel,” the second single from their debut self titled CD.

Things get wild at a Lazys show, so much so that Morris ended up in the hospital in London, Ontario a few weeks ago.

“At times we get a little energetic. I was doing a guitar solo on top of the bar and my face collided with the lights and I split open my nose. So I had to spend a night in the hospital. I got  five stitches. So now we have a good memories of London, Ontario. But I’m healing up,” he chuckled.

“ We just love being back in Canada. It’s our home away from home,” he said.
While the band has released several EPS, their self titled CD is their first on a label. They are thinking about the second in between tours.

“ We’ve been writing a little  while we’re driving, but none of them are ready yet,” he said.
“We just want to write great rock and roll songs though they aren’t just metal and hard rock leanings. It’s hard to tell yet, he continued.

For now the band is concentrating on “Black Rebel,” the second song  co written with Billy Talent’ Ian D’Sa, who also co -wrote the Lazys’ first single “Shake It like You Mean it.”
“ We got to hang out with him in Toronto on this tour. We had a lot of shows around there. We didn’t have time to write. He’s a really busy guy. But we drank a lot of beer. He’s a pretty interesting to talk to,” he said.

They are excited to return to Lethbridge to rock a different venue this time as last time they rocked the Slice, complete with Morris soloing on top of the bar.
“We’re coming to rock Lethbridge,” he said, adding they may even jam with One Bad Son on stage.

“ We were just talking about that with (guitarist Adam) Hicks last week about starting a jam together. So you never know, Lethbridge might be the first one,” he said.
The show begins at 8 p.m., Dec. 17. Tickets are $20  in advance, $25 at the door.
