A relatively slower week is marked by several big, loud rock shows including a couple big head banging shows at Attainable Records.
The first one is a big all ages death metal show, Wednesday, June 8 featuring Evansville, Illinois metal band Aegeon, Montreal death metal band Depths of Hatred, Vancouver death metal band Without Mercy, Port Coquitlam death metal band God Said Kill and local metal band the Avulsion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the music beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Let your ears recover for most of day, then Attainable Records hosts Billings, Montana rockers Stranded By Choice who will be joined by local bands the Rainbow Patrol and Quick Draw. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Attainable has yet another local rock show on June 10 featuring local bands the Silkstones and local duo Birch Barks. Admission is $10, which includes a membership to Attainable Records which is required for all Attainable shows.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge features a local rock show, June 10 featuring Wint, Babours and Steve Martin.
Inferno features Back to the Futour — a big metal show on June 11 with Barrie, Ontario hardcore/metal band Sons of Sirens, Calgary progressive rock band Why Marilyn and local pop punk bands the Youngbloods and Friends Over Fame. It begins at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover.

But this week isn’t just about loud rock shows.
For something a little more mellow and classically minded, Casa hosts Lethbridge raised pianist Jesse Plessis who plays a fundraiser for the Lethbridge Registered Music Teachers Association annual student awards program, June 10. He will be playing W.A. Mozart - Sonata in A Minor, K. 310; C. Vivier - Pianoforte; C. Vivier - Shiraz; W.A. Mozart - Adagio in B Minor, K. 540 and F. Liszt - Sonata in B Minor, S. 178. The recital begins at 7:30 p.m., Tickets are $20 regular and $15 for students.
As usual there is a lot of local talent performing around the city. Gabriel Thaine visits Plum, June 11. Local rock band Band of Brothers play a fundraiser for the Friends of Coalhurst School Society, at Average Joes, June 11 as well. Admission is $10.
And Lethbridge country band the Coal Creek Boys make a long awaited return to the Lethbridge stage, June 11 at Casino Lethbridge. Dauphin, Manitoba country musician Jerry Sereda plays Casino Lethbridge on June 10.
The Slice features local bluesman Paul Kype and Texas Flood, June 10.
The monthly ukulele jam at Casa is on Sunday, June 12 from 2-3 p.m.
For something more dreamy, Blueprint Records celebrates their tenth anniversary June 11 at the Slice with Calgary songwriter Savk plus Hank and Lily’s Lily Fawn’s new project Songs From the Black Lodge with Eric Hogg aka Zephyr Nova. Also performing are local country band the Dearly Departed and Unbroken Circle. Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
And the Lethbridge Jazz festival kicks off at the Gate, June 11 with the Young Lions concert featuring talented bands form Southern Alberta schools Performances begin at 12:45 with CCH Steel Panthers Jazz band; 1:05 St. Francis Jazz band; 1:25 St. Joes Jazz band; 1:45: Chinook Jazz band; 2:05 Gilbert Patterson Jazz band; 2:25 LCI Jazz Combo; 2:45 RI Baker Jazz band; 3:05 Wilson Middle School Stage band; 3:25 Chinook Jazz Combo; 3:45 LCA Green Jazz Band; 4:05 Raymond Jazz band 4:25 LCI Jazz band.
The first big blues show of this year’s Lethbridge Jazz Festival is Monday, June 13 with Duncan, B.C. based duo Blue Moon Marquee who are touring in support of their brand new CD “Gypsy Blues.” They stop by the Slice at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover. They are also at the Twin Butte Store on June 11.
After that, things start to get busy again, in part due to the Lethbridge Jazz Festival. Attainable Records has another big pop punk show on Tuesday, June 14 with local pop punk band the Youngbloods and Regina’s Almost Alien plus Bob Scallywag and more to be announced. Admission is $10. The bands begin at 8 p.m.
