Rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar runs at the Yates Theatre, Oct. 13-16. It is a fundraiser for the LSCO. Tickets are $52. It runs at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13-15 and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 16.
On another fundraising note, local rock band the Chevelles are performing a fundraiser at Coyote Joes, Oct. 14 for the Lethbridge Goon Squad Pee Wee city league hockey team.
The music begins at 9:30 p.m. There is a $10 cover for the show.
There is another fundraiser on Oct. 14, featuring local country star Trevor Panczak at the Northside Lethbridge Dodge. Panczak plus an unplugged Chevelles, Sykamore, Julian Austin, Duo Fuoco and the Lethbridge fire Pipes and Drums plus DNR will all be performing this fundraiser for mental health, with all proceeds from the $50 tickets going to the CHR Mental Health Expansion Project. Hors d’ouvres and cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the music at 7:30 p.m. as well as a live auction.
The music begins at 9 p.m. Admission is $10.
The Geomatic Attic has a couple of big shows this weekend.
Austin, Texas songwriter James McMurtry brings his band plus special guest Scott Nolan to the Attic, on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Tickets are $37. 50. The show begins at 8 p.m. sharp.
The very next day, the Geomatic Attic welcomes back folk/ pop/ soul/ R and B influenced quartet Birds of Chicago, Oct. 16. They combine the talents of Po’ Girl’s Allison Russell and JT Nero. Tickets for that show cost $32.50. It also begins at 8 p.m.on the dot.
But things get off to an early, rocking start at Attainable Records, when Calgary duo Miesha and the Spanks stop by in support of their brand new EP “ Stranger,” with special guests, local rock duo Cope as well as Biloxi Parish.
Original shock rocker Alice Cooper returns to Lethbridge this week when he returns to the Enmax Centre, Oct. 13. He has a plethora of hits including “School’s Out,” “ No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “ Billion Dollar Babies“ and “Poison.”
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $59-$69.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge features some excellent roots/ pop music this week. Winnipeg songwriter JP Hoe makes a long awaited return to Lethbridge, Oct. 14. The next night Commander Xander returns to the Owl Acoustic Lounge.
Local roots/ folk songwriter Karen Romanchuk plays the Mocha Cabana, Oct. 14.
Dueling Pianos return to Average Joes on Friday as well. And Casa hosts the monthly Lethbridge Folk Club open mic, on Friday, Oct. 14 as well beginning at 7:30 p.m. The monthly ukulele jam happens at Casa on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 2-3 p.m.
Begin the week with some head banging fun as ’80s metal icons Slayer and Anthrax play the Enmax Centre with Death Angel beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $49, $59 and $79 plus fees.
And Club Didi hosts an unplugged open Mic on Tuesday.
