They will be celebrating their geek-hood with a whole lot of rock and roll at Attainable Records, Oct. 19 with Rainbow Patrol and Field Holler. The show begins at 8 p.m.
 There is a $10 cover.

“ Our music definitely exists  in a rock and roll context, but nerd culture is definitely should be recognizable in it,” said bassist/vocalist Ian Nichols.

“We like  things like playing video games and collecting comic books and memorabilia. We use science fiction tropes to express things happening in our lives like homesickness. We have a song called ‘Glimmer Stop’ which is about a video game called ‘Destiny’ which sold 35 million copies for X-Box. It‘s deep,” he said.

“We have a song about time travel called ‘See You Soon,’ which is about being on the road and feeling homesick,” he continued.

“And we have a song called SOFINe which is a love song based on the periodic table of the elements and plays on their reactions with each other,” he said.

“But we also cover ‘Godzilla’ from the Blue Oyster Cult because we love that,” he said.
“ We hope that it gets our message across,“ he said.

Double Experience released their third studio album on April 12 entitled “Unsaved Progress” on April 8 via their label Colfax Music.
It is their first as a trio and third since 2011.

Nichols is pleased with it.

“ When you’re in your 20s, you have ideas about what you want your band to  be. We decided on this one to be a nerd rock band. And as a three piece, it has really taken shape,” he said.
Their  Nerd-dom comes to the fore in their stage show as well.

“ It’s the 20th anniversary of Pokemon so we have a giant Pokemon and a Pokemon Go took off a couple months ago so we have a Pokemon Go stop, so you can collect things that you need,” he said.
Attainable Records  setting up several video game stations in the space the night of the show and screening Pokemon 2000 overtop of the artists as they perform.
Double Experience is the band’s life.

“This is it. there is no day job. Music is our 9 to 9 or 5 to 9 job. And there is a loot of work. Our drummer is Welsh, so when he goes home, we do acoustic shows of Double Experience duo shows. We’re working 365 days a year on things. deciding what to  should do  for the company,” he said.

They have never played Lethbridge before, so they are looking forward to exploring it.
“We’ve driven through it, but never played there. We’ve got a whole day, so we‘re looking forward to seeing it.”
The show begins at 8 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 19. There is a $10 cover.
