Elkford B.C. blues rock trio the Burn-Ins are excited to return to Lethbridge with new music.
“It’s been a good year so far,” said bassist/vocalist Kristine Lyall, who along with drummer Aaron Lyall and guitarist Aaron Mokry make up the Burn-Ins.
“We’re still living out of our van,” she added.
They are working on the follow up to their 2015 CD “ On the Inside” with producer Jonathan Anderson in Maple Creek.
“He did our last album and we really liked working with him, so we decided to do it again,” Lyall continued.
The Burn-Ins host the Owl Acoustic Lounge open mic on Monday, Feb. 20.
She noted they are still writing the songs for the new CD.
“We’re still getting the songs together and rewriting. It’s still on the same page. it’s still blues rock,” she said, noting they expect to release the new CD, to be called ‘Start A Fire,’ in the summer.
“It’s a program where artists learn the business of music. A lot of artists don’t know the business including us,“ she said, adding they also booked one gig in Toronto while they are there and are working on others in the area.
“We’re playing a new venue there called the Libertarian Pub House (on March 10). We’re tying to get some others,” she continued.
They have been playing a lot around Central B.C. and Banff including Nelson.
“ But we couldn’t play Revelstoke because we got caught in snowmageddon, she said, adding they are excited to play Lethbridge.
“We‘re playing the Owl open mic on Monday, so that should be fun. We’ll do a couple of sets with open mic in between,” she said.
“ We like to play with people,” she continued.
“And we’re playing new songs so we‘re looking forward to it. And we’ve got some covers like Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene,’ but not so country,” she said.
The show begins at 9 p.m.
