They return to Lethbridge to play the Slice, June 7 with Vancouver’s Morning Show and local indie rock band the Silkstones.

“We just released  the new single “Lonely Love” on Friday and the feedback has already been super-positive. People have already downloaded it and are singing along. So we’re already pretty happy with it,” said Brett Cassidy, Ashley Hundred banjo, lap steel and vocalist, from Kelowna, where they opened their tour and are packing up for  the trip to the show in Vancouver.

“Kelowna’s a great place to play. It was a lot of fun, the crowd was rowdy,” said, Cassidy, whose band mates are drummer Michael De Souza, guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Franks , bassist/vocalist Jordan Moe and guitarist/ keyboardist/vocalist Carson Stewart.

They are pleased with the single.
“It’s definitely more of a pop song than the other songs on the album. The album is pretty dark and introspective, but fundamentally it’s pretty representative of the album,” he continued.

He noted they got some help form the Prophets of Music emerging artists program in Calgary to record the album.

“So we were able to take the time to go to OCL Studios and take  our time to work on transforming our soundscapes and experiment with a lot of different ear candy,” he said.

“ It’s dark and introspective because  a lot of us were having these introspective feelings,” he said.

“We’ve been playing the songs for  months. We still play some of the older songs, but  because we couldn’t keep these new songs to ourselves,” he said.

He noted The Ashley Hundred will be doing another quick  tour when they release the album’s second single in July and will be playing a few festivals in the summer including Frog Fest in Rocky Mountain House.

“But for the most part we’ll be taking it easy until the album is released at the end of August, when we will do a coast to coast tour,” he continued.

“We’re picking up the morning show. They’re from Vancouver, so we’ll bring them out to Alberta,” he said.
There is a $10 cover for the show, which begins at 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 at the Slice.
