Shaela Miller plays super ‘last show’

E-mail Print PDF

Pregnancy didn’t stop local singer-songwriter  Shaela Miller from playing at the top of her game, Sunday Shaela Miller played the 1010 Pub July 4. Photo by Richard Ameryduring what was billed as her last show until fall at the 1010 Pub, July 4 for one of the best shows I’ve seen her perform.

She ran through two upbeat, energetic sets of crowd favourites from her EP and this year’s  full length CD ‘Love is Brave.’

She started her show  to a packed house with “Halfway in Love,” and ran through her repertoire including ‘Station’  as well as several covers of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams country classics. She got most of the audience dancing almost immediately.

Her second set was even better, including  a couple of my favourites “Manchester,’  ‘Loving Me,’ and ‘Lonely.’
She sang a few more Johnny Cash songs including an excellent duet with lap steel guitarist Taylor Ackerman of Johnny Cash’s ‘Long legged Guitar Picking Man.’
She brought Jeremy Floyd up on stage to sing ‘Vicious Bitches, ’ with her as well.

She is playing Original Joes tonight (July  7) with Greg Gomola as well. She is also playing with a  new classic rock cover band, Hot Pie, July 10 at Coyote Joes.
