Things open loud this week.
Random Killing celebrate 40 years tearing up the punk rock world with a tour stop in Lethbridge with Calgary based punk rockers the Motherfuckers at the Slice tonight, Tuesday, May 7.
Doors open at 8 p.m. The bands begin at 9 p.m. There is a $20 cover.
Down the street, The Owl Acoustic Lounge’s open. mic will be happening around the same time.
There are a lot of open mics this week.
The Slice’s open mic in on Wednesday.
And Gabe Thaine’s jam for hunger is on Thursday at Theoretically brewing.
The Lethbridge Folk Club has their open mic on Friday at McKillop United Church beginning at 7 p.m.
And Salsa’s Restaurant has an all ages jam Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
Honker’s Pub features an acoustic show with Paul Kype and Texas Flood on Friday, May 10.
Undefined play a show at Honker’s Pub on Saturday.
The Slice has a busy week beginning with The Random Killing show tonight.
But on Friday, local emo trio Alec Arms plus Edmonton rock band Folded Hand return to the Slice Stage n Friday, May 10 at 9 p.m.
Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
They are warming up the stage for Slicefest the next day, Saturday, May 11.
A variety of bands will be playing all day long. Brody Jerome, The Dark Wrangler, Kevin Peters, Denver Venoit, Chris Ryan Drew, Steve Foord, Makiisma, Brock Geiger, The Bailey Kate Band, Samantha Savage Smith, Queen of the Worms are all on the bill. There will also be daytime vendors.
Tickets are $25.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
There is another big festival around the corner on Saturday, May 11. Danica Sommer’s Alanis Project headlines the second annual Springiest in Festival Square beginning at 6 p.m. Performers include Alchemy the Linguist, Donny Sage, K Stone, Lucie Waa, MC Good Medicine, Javier Escuela, RG , Jeremiah, Poor Woman. Admission is free. Doors opens at 6 p.m with the music beginning at 7 p.m.
The Owl Acoustic Lounge has their usual solid week.
But the biggest news is they announced Corb Lund will be playing Nov. 14 and 15.

This Friday, Kevin Giron and Wells Good return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge stage on Friday.
The weather should be warming up a lot by the weekend, so what better way to celebrate warm weather and Spring, that by listening to surf music.
Local surf band The Atomicos plus Commander Xander and the Talent Show will be playing Saturday, May 11 at 9 p.m. Admission is by donation.
For jazz music, Paul Holden and James Oldenburg play the Watertower Grill on Wednesday.
Sheena Lawson and the Lovecats return to The Kingsman Ale House on Saturday, May 11.
Pops Pub North has a Mother's Day matinee with Little Super Dangerous and Waffelhouse, Sunday, May 12 at 3 p.m. admission is by donation.
Casino Lethbridge has something different this weekend. Diva's Cabaret happens Friday and Saturday. Tickets begin at $30.
To get your ha ha on, check out Good Times. This Week Pro Amateur Night is on Wednesday with hosts Brian Dawdniuk and Deb beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is five dollars.
