I couldn’t resist a chance to see Ghostkeeper at the Slice, Oct. 1, but I was more impressed with opening act Michael Rault.
 Rault  had nailed the classic  Byrds, Buddy Holly, the Band, and Elvis Costello sound, as well as  the more modern classic rock sound of the John Henrys.

Their set was full of catchy, jangling guitar, twangy vocals and upbeat tambourine, which took you back to the  fun vintage classic rock sounds of the ’60s and early ’70s.

 They had a lot of energy and had a good crowd dancing by the end of their set as they ended with a  rousing rendition of Van Morrison’s “Gloria.”

I kind of wished they played another set, however Ghostkeeper, who took their sweet time setting up took the stage well past midnight. 

As always Shane Ghostkeeper showed he could play some interesting guitar parts while drummer Sarah Houle kept a steady beat.

But I remember enjoying their last performance in Lethbridge a lot better.
