Jaclyn Guillou provides a Slice of jazz

Print

The Slice got a taste of jazz with Vancouver based jazz vocalist Jaclyn Guillou and her band performing easygoing jazz, Oct. 16. She opened her second set with some beautiful vocalizations as the guitarist, keyboardist, drummer and stand up bassist laid down a mellow groove.

She played a variety of her new original songs as well as some excellent covers of Joni Mitchell.

One of the highlights was a more blues based jazz number called “The Blues Ain’t Nothing.”

As expected in a jazz show

, everybody got to solo for the intimate audience.

There were plenty of tasteful g

uitar solos and a lot of piano solos sprinkled throughout the set.
