Krang and Devonian Gardens provide good, loud weirdness

It was a loud rock night at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Nov. 8. While I missed the opening set from the Yeah Dads, Edmonton stoner rock band Krang was a surprise addition to the bill.Edmonton band Krang paid Lethbridge a surprise visit, Nov. 8. Photo by Richard Amery
The raw power of their big, loud Black Sabbathy, sludgy bass powered rock takes your breath away. But they also had a spooky essence reflecting a heavier Pink Floyd feel.

There was plenty of pounding rhythm and shrieking feedback.

The Devonian Gardens brought a whole new definition of weird— good weird. This time they had a blue harp on stage in the midst of amass of keyboards, guitars and 12-strings cluttering the tiny stage.

They had an Afghan Whigs  style ambient sound but featuring catchy melodies and musical goodies in addition to waves of ambience. They also added a more ’50s pop sound to ther songs.
