Vancouver country tinged rock band Spoon River was superb, they sounded similar to Blue Rodeo with quite a bit of the band. Unfortunately there were only  about 30 people there.
They  brought back the spirit of the ’60s and ’70s with tortured yet soulful vocals and  catchy riffs some mournful lap steel guitar plus some excellent vocal harmonies. They played quite a bit of music off their debut CD “Kingdom of  the Burned” as well as some newer songs  including  a touching one called ‘I Miss My Friend.’Rodney DeCroo and his band rock the country. I’d never seen Rodney DeCroo before, but was impressed with his unique style of country/rfolk rock which lay somewhere in the middle of Elliott Brood, Tom Cochrane and Bob Dylan, with a touch of Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
He sang catchy numbers like ‘Rain, Rain’ and an upbeat version of ‘Bring It On’ which  was reminiscent of Cross Canadian Ragweed.  While De Croo sounded uncannily like Bob Dylan  in places,  his lyrics were 100 per cent country but the music was  pretty much rock.
It was a solid show all round.
