Description

7 p.m.— Marissa Van Hell plays light country and pop music. She started singing at age five, opened for Jason McCoy and has won several Idol contests. She sings country, pop, celtic and classic music.

8 p.m. Tanis Lowe  http://www.myspace.com/canvasstudio — Tanis Lowe is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Performing from an early age, she soon started writing her own material and expressing herself through many different artistic mediums. Carefully crafted lyrics, heartfelt melodies, naked vulnerability and a movingly soulful style are the core elements of Tanis' music. Her life is an open book - her stories told through her songs. Influenced by such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Heart and Chantal Kreviazuk, she continues to dabble in many different genres and strives to incorporate different musical roots into her folk/rock style. Tanis has performed at many venues including recently opening for Chantal Kreviazuk at her Lethbridge show, an upcoming performance opening for the Stampeders at Lethbridge’s own Whoop-Up Days, The Lethbridge Women’s Show, some of Calgary's coolest art hotpots, lounges, pubs, conferences and other organized events. When she and her guitar hit the stage the crowd goes silent and for a moment she steals a piece of time.

9 p.m.— the Stampeders http://www.stampeders.net/ are a classic Canadian country tinged rock trio  who had numerous hits in the ’70s including Sweet City Woman.

THE STAMPEDERS are recognized as one of Canada's top rock groups of the early '70's. A household name in their own country, The Stampeders left their home base of Calgary Alberta in 1966 and went on to tour extensively in Canada, the U.S., Europe and South America. In 1972, they won JUNO AWARDS (Canada's equivalent to THE GRAMMY) for 'BEST GROUP', 'BEST SINGLE' ("Sweet City Woman"), 'BEST PRODUCER' and 'BEST COMPOSER'. Between 1971 and 1976, they recorded ten albums, with many reaching gold and platinum status. Many of their songs including "Sweet City Woman", "Carry Me", "Hit The Road Jack (with Wolfman Jack)", and "Wild Eyes" entered the Top 30 in the U.S.. and twelve (12) of their singles charted top-ten in Canada. Some of their other hits include "Devil You", "Minstrel Gypsy", "Oh My Lady", "New Orleans", "Ramona", "Keep Me Running Wild", "Playin' In The Band", "Then Came The White Man", "Monday Morning Choo Choo", "Julia Get Up", "Me And My Stone", and "Johnny Lightning", ...In 1992, The Stampeders officially reunited and began touring once again.
