It has been a long time since Edmonton based keyboards/ bass based dance conglomerate Shout Out Out Out Out Out 
have been to Lethbridge.
“We played Henotic and that was about two years ago. We loved playing that venue. We wish it were still there,” said Nik Kozub, who plays keyboards, bass, programs electronics and vocoder for the band.
All of the members play bass or keyboards in the band, but though they just got back from a quick tour of the east including Ontario, Montreal and New York, most of the past year has been spent chipping away at their brand new third CD, which they hope will be completed by winter.
“It’s about half recorded,” Kozub continued.
They will be playing the Stone, Nov. 11 and plan to perform three of the new songs during the show.
“Maybe even four,” he said.
While Kozub, who works as a sound engineer and record producer for his day job, is most at home in the studio, he noted it is about time the new CD was completed.
“I’m not tired of it. The songwriting process is the most fun part of being in the band for me, but it is starting to feel like we have been working on it for a long time and we want to get it out,” he said.
They have been working on the CD for a good year, in between other bands, day jobs, tours and other projects.
“We hope it will be out by winter sometime. The new CD is about half done,” he said adding the music is a little different.
“It’s not a lot different. It is still dance, but the songs have got a little more texture and maturity. The songs have a little more space to breathe,” he described.
“We’ve been concentrating on making sure the songs have a good vibe about them,” he said.
“But I’m going to be very proud of this one,” he said.
They have been concentrating on recording so have not toured as much as usual, but they did book their eastern tour around the CMJ music festival, Oct. 18-22 in New York City.
“We’ve toured out east about eight times now,” he said.
Their show begins at 9 p.m. at the Stone. Tickets are $15 in advance.
