The trio, Jessica Rae Ayre, Amber Neilsen, and Michelle Anderson, formed in 2009 and are  coming to Lethbridge for the first time to play the Slice, April 18. So if you like groups like the Be Good Tanyas, Oh My Darling and Jill Barber you will enjoy Sweet Alibi.
They began their 30 day western Canadian tour, April 10.

‘“We did a Home Routes, house concert tour in the fall as a threesome. We were just doing house concerts, but this is our first real go at it,” said Jessica  Rae Ayre, just about to pick up a banjo for the tour. She sings as well as plays a little ukulele and guitar.
“ I like playing house concerts. I like the interaction with the audience. It draws us closer,” she said.
Playing bars on this tour will be a little different.

“It’s nice because a lot more people can come and see us. It will be good music that people can really listen to,” she continued.
Sweet Alibi add a lot of different styles of music  into their sound including elements of classical music, folk and a lot of jazz.
“It just seemed natural,” she said of their sound.

They have just released their new CD with producer and drummer Mitch Dorge.

“It took about 10 months,  but a lot of that was because we were still working around day jobs, so we just did what we could,” she continued.
They are looking forward to beginning the tour.

“ I guess we’re just  looking forward to playing for new audiences. It will be a great experience.  It will be a lot of fun,” she said.
“We’ll be playing a lot of stuff off of the CD. We all play guitar and sing and I’ll be playing some ukulele,” she said.
There will be a five dollar cover for the show, which begins at 9 p.m.
