Juno award winning guitarist Sue Foley,  is a sizzling blues musician and smokey voiced singer from Ottawa who met respected Americana musician Peter Karp, at the Ottawa Folk Festival back in 2006.

Karp has worked on music and film projects with an impressive number of people from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Motorhead plus blues legends like Junior Wells and Hohn Lee Hooker. He even recorded a CD with former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor.

“ We met at the Ottawa blues festival and began exchanging e-mails,” said Foley en route to a gig in Pennsylvania with Karp and their band, bassist Niles Terrat and drummer Mike Catapano.

“We wanted to do a couple songs together,” she continued.
One thing lead to another and they recorded “He Said, She Said,’” combining Karp’s storytelling and Foley’s guitar and both of their complementary voices.

They are presently touring all over the U.S. and Canada in support of their sophomore CD “Beyond the Crossroads.”
Karp is enjoying working with Foley, noting they complement each others’ sounds.
“We’re writing better songs now,” he said.

“We always did it for the fun out of fun and we fill in the spaces of each other’s music,” he continued adding they inspire each other.
Foley noted they hadn’t intended to do a second CD and tour, things just worked out that way.

“It felt really good and we both had some really good songs,” she said.

“We didn’t plan it and still don‘t. But I think we’re both surprised how this happened,” Karp continued.

“We didn‘t really plan this,” Foley continued.

“It’s uplifting and fun and we’re meeting a lot of people,” she added.

Karp has never been to Lethbridge, so he is looking forward to it. Foley is just looking forward to playing with Karp.

“We‘re not Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers yet,” she said.
“I’m excited about it. That’s a great area of the country,” Karp said
Tickets for the show cost $25. The show will begin at 8 p.m.

They also play a house concert as a duo at Valerie McQuaid’s house on Oct. 23.
