She is currently enjoying a tour with Mother Mother, which comes to Average Joes, Nov. 10.
“ I  think I’ve always been making pop music,” Georgas said from a small town just outside of Quebec City.
“Chit Chat  (Her last CD) was pretty pop. To me pop music is something that is catchy,” she said.

She recorded the new CD with Graham Walsh of Toronto based electronica band Holy Fuck.

“He was wonderful. It worked out really well. It was great to take me out of my comfort zone in Vancouver. I went out and rented an apartment on Queen Street West in Toronto and we just hung out and jammed for three weeks,” she said adding Walsh set up the apartment for her as  one of his friends was looking for somebody to sublet their apartment.
She began the writing process for the new CD in January, and finished it by August.

“Before it would just be me playing with my Garage Band and I’d make some demos and send them off. For this one I just came to the studio with my guitar,” she continued adding Walsh played most of the keyboards and did most of the programming on the CD though she did play some of the keyboards.

“I’d just come in with my guitar and he’d have his Moogs and synthesizers and his whole set up and we’d record demo after demo and we sent them to the guys in Wintersleep,” she continued.

She noted the CD translates very well live as she hired a keyboard player, bassist, drummer and another guitar player while she plays guitar and sings.

“We’ve tried to really emulate the sound of the  record and I think it really comes across well,” she said.
She’d love to tour with Holy Fuck, especially Walsh.

“ I have a new found respect for him. I feel pretty privileged to work with him. I’ve never met anyone like him. He’s mind-blowing. I want him in my band,” she enthused.

“But I think they’re busy doing  their own record now,” she said.

She is  enjoying her tour with  Mother Mother, which included a lot of American shows.

“I’m opening for them and it’s great. They’re really close friends of mine. I tend to see more of my close friends on the road because they’re always touring,” she observed.

She will be touring until Dec. 20, then start another tour in January.

 She always enjoys playing Lethbridge.
“We were just there in September, playing a show at the university. It was a very lively and entertaining audience,” she said.
“ And years ago I played the Slice and everybody was so excited,” she said.
Mother Mother and Hannah Georgas play Average Joes, Dec. 10 at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $30.
