The Wild and One Bad Son brought a solid show of B.C. rock to a sold out Bo Diddly’s, March 27.
Kelowna’s the Wild started of their set with a slower version of their radio single “ Roadhouse,” and quickly took off from there. They rocked like the bastard sons of AC DC with plenty of gritty guitar riffs, raspy vocals and high kicks.
The spirit of Bonn Scott era AC DC is strong in the Wild as they tore things up with lots of raw power, energy and gritty guitar riffs plus shout along harmonies.
The ripped it up with a metal version of “Rattlesnake Shake,” added a few new songs and several from their just released CD.
“ What About You was a Highlight” as was “Straight to Hell” and their latest single “Party Til You’re Dead ” was in there as well, though it was hard to tell.
Saskatoon born, Vancouver based rock band One Bad Son get better and better and are just starting to hit their stride.
Frontman Shane Volk strutted around like a rock star, belted out lyrics like Bon Jovi. He showed off his huge voice.
Drummer Kurt Dahl was a blur behind his drum kit and played a huge drum solo as well as numerous fills. Bassist Adam Grant held down a solid, driving beat and guitarist Adam Hicks supplied all the big riffs you needed.
Their big hit “Scarecrow” was a high octane highlight and was reminiscent of their latest single “Black Buffalo” as Volk shouted “we’re shooting a video for this, so you might be in it.”
they played their hits and deep cuts off their albums including several off the latest “ Black Buffalo.”
They ended their set with their scorching, bass heavy cover of the Talking Heads’ “ Psycho Killer”
They were called aback for an encore of several more songs.
