The other Sam Weber plays pretty pop folk music

E-mail Print PDF

I went to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, June 3 expecting to see one half of popular Toronto area/ Maryland based rock and rollers the Weber Brothers who used to play with Rocking Ronnie Hawkins,  but it wasn’t to be.Sam Weber playing original folk/ pop music. Photo by Richard Amery

Instead I  was pleasantly surprised to hear a catchy, uptempo set of John Mayer/ Dave Matthews folk pop singer songwriter material from Victoria’s Sam Weber  who just released his debut Cd “Shadows in the Road.”

It was beautifully performed with lots of bright melodies and chipper guitar.

He is apparently a talented guitar player, but was very restrained during the part of the set I saw, playing for the song rather than to show off.

The last song of the show, “ Buddy,” was a good way to end an upbeat set.
