Leave the Living bring metal from Red Deer

E-mail Print PDF

Other than band members from the bands who came from all over Canada and the United States to perform, there weren’t a lot of people at a big metal show at Inferno, Wednesday, July 22. Leave the Living’s Justin Shadows at Inferno, July 22. Photo by Richard Amery

I only arrived in time to catch Leave the Living, touring in support of their new CD “Pacifist.” They had plenty of loud riffs, howling vocals and a lot of energy.

Frontman Justin Shadows was an affable host, chatting with the audience while  guitarists Jose Dyck and Ben Bushido supplied lots of big, detuned, brutal riffs. Bassist Steven McGillivray was locked in with the pounding toms of drummer Sean Higgin.

I was unable to catch local death grind band the Avulsion, Fargo, North Dakota's Tracings or Southern Ontario progressive metal band Becomes Astral or death metal band Netherward.
