“There has been a lot of positive creative energy released,” said Locomotive Ghost bassist/ songwriter Ben Nixon, noting the CD was released Feb. 21 and has already attracted some positive attention.

“We’ve been placing on charts. It was #67 on  the Canadian charts,” he said, noting  their fans stepped up to help them make the new Cd with producers Russell Broom and Spencer Cheyne.

“We did a crowdfunding campaign to do the new album because we wanted to work with the producers. We usually produce the CDs ourselves. But we only needed $7,000 and we got $12,000 so we were able to do a little more,” Nixon continued, noting the band’s last CD was released in February 2014.

“They were very supportive about helping us do what we wanted to do, but also called us out about the things which needed to be better or improve,” Nixon said, adding the latter is challenging when they are producing themselves.

The new CD features keyboardist Laura Schoenberg sharing more lead vocals with guitarist/ keyboardist Mike Buckley. Drummer James Bundy completes the band.

“She had just joined when we released our  last CD three years ago. It’s about even. She sings about half of the songs. Mike sings the other half and she sings a duet with Mike too,” Nixon said.

“It really opened up a lot of creative possibilities,” Nixon said.

“We love it… We love having her adding her voice. And it’s nice having a girl in the band so it isn’t just a van full of dudes,” Nixon laughed.

“She takes care of us,” he said.

“We also added another guitarist to tour with. It’s been a treat. He’s quite a high calibre player,” he said.
With the CD in hand, they are ready to hit the road.
“We’re doing a three week Western Canada tour.
