Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra play exotic early show

E-mail Print PDF

Victoria based exotic roots collective Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra always put on a good show. But their Friday, July 5 show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge was surprisingly done before midnight.

Nonetheless, they played a hot set of fiddle powered set of toe tapping folk, jazz and even klezmer tinged music for a good sized crowd, especially considering much of their audience was likely in Twin Butte For Soulfest.

They featured a whole lot of fiddle, accordion, guitar and bass solos and tight vocal harmonies.

They had most of the people on their feet and clapping gleefully along with the more uptempo numbers like “Annalee”.

They slowed things down slightly to lay down a sultry , jazzy groove in places and showed off some delightful multi-part vocal harmonies.
They segued into a more traditionally Celtic number which showed off their  vocal harmonies.
