Local musician and photographer Gabe Thaine Olsen has been playing with everyone and his dog lately, but put together his own band for a Feb. 8 show at the Slice.

They included familiar faces including two back up singers including Ashley Thomson as well as bassist Ian Morrice, who allowed Thaine to  show his many musical sides and instrumental prowess on keyboards as well as guitar and vocals.

They played folk, rock and a bit of the blues in addition to his CBC Searchlight competition submission “Murder to Be.”

Good Time Charlie  were a good time as always, finishing the night with a whole lot of classic rock and more.

They opened with the Black Crowes’ “Hard to Handle” and followed it up with Tom Petty’s “ Don’t Do Me Like That.”
They went more modern with an excellent cover Good Time Charlie at the Slice, Feb. 8. Photo by Richard Ameryof the Sheepdogs’ “I Don’t Know” and The Glorious Sons’ “ Oh Mama.”

For a pleasant surprise, they added a cover of Shooter Jennings’ “Outlaw You,” which brought back some pleasant memories of the Outlaw Country Cruise.

It was back to classic rock after that with a cover of Mountain’s “Mississippi Queen.”
