The first month of 2023 has just flown by.
The last week of January opens with a whole lot of open mic.
The Owl Acoustic lounge’s open mic is tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 24.
As usual on the last Wednesday of the month, Teri Petz hosts a poetry open mic at the Owl Acoustic lounge.
n the west side, Petals, paws and Beans hosts another new Wednesday night open mic.
Mandy Fox hosts what is sure to be a hard rocking open mic at the Slice Wednesday, Jan 25.
If you’re funny and you know it, show it at the pro amateur night at Good Times, Thursday, Jan. 26.
On the weekend FOE (Fractures of Etalon) host a rocking open mic at Honker’ Pub, Friday, Jan. 27. Frankie G will be hosting Honkers open mic on Saturday, Jan, 28.
Open mics return to Mojos Pub on the west side, Monday, Jan, 30 , where Luke James Bruce holds court on the last Monday of every month.
There are a lot of other events, non-open mic related.
Midnight Channel plays some jazz music in the Bunka Centre at Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens, Thursday, Jan 26.
They move to Sunday performances in February.
James Oldenburg and Ryan Heseltine return to the Watertower to play some jazz music from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Cal Toth brings his duelling pianos show to The Canadian Brewhouse, Friday, Jan, 27. Tickets are $34.99 including entry, a Caesar salad, breadsticks, your choice of pasta and a glass of house wine or a bottle of beer.
Cal and special guest Anna McBryan perform at 7 p.m.
Casino Lethbridge features a real treat in that they host local alt country musician Dave McCann and the Firehearts, Friday and Saturday.

The Slice rocks on Friday with Fawns, the Suit Jacket Society and the Decadent Phase. Admission is $10 or pay what you can.
The Slice goes country on Saturday with Chris Drew and the Wicked Grins, Saturday, Jan 28.

For laughs, Ottawa comedian Matt Santos brings the funny to Good Times Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $14.95 through Showpass.
Local comedian Johnny Pogo os recording his first album at the Canadian Brewhouse, Saturday, an, 28. Tickets are $22.63 The laughs begin at 9 p.m.
New art exhibits open at Casa on Saturday, Jan. 28. The main Gallery features Adrian Cook’s “Wood Works”; Julie Duschenes’ “Pack Ice” and David Dunlop’s “Plotting Murder.”
Myken McDowell’s Space Talk is on the project Space. Jordan Mudrack’s WYSIWYG is in the Passage Gallery. John Calf Chief’s “Past Present and Friendship” is on the concourse. Jessica Colley’s “the weight’ is on the Platform.
And Hali Heavy Shield’s “Postcards from the Rez” is in the Saokitapi Gallery.
The Trianon Galley also has two new exhibitions opening on the same night.
