The Esper Records launch party at the Slice, March 26 had a respectable crowd.
I missed sets by Leigh Doerksen and Dan Puurveen’s new duo Church as well as Jesse and the Dandelions but arrived just as the New Weather Machine was getting started.
The band featured Esper Records’ founders Jon Martin on guitar and vocals as well as Jesse and the Dandelions’ Jesse Northey on bass as well as special guest Brad Brouwer on drums.
As usual, Martin displayed an impressive set of vocal pipes reminiscent of early ’70s classic rock like David Bowie and Mott The Hoople, as well as played some very tasteful guitar leads.
They played several older crowd pleasing New Weather Machine songs as well as newer fare, one of which even had the makings of a mosh pit beginning in front of the stage.
