Locomotive Ghost show new music and new members

I expected Locomotive Ghost’s May 30 show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge to suffer from attendance due to Shred Kelly playing around the corner at Studio 54, but it was not the case.

The CalLocomotive Ghost returned to Lethbridge, May 30. Photo by Richard Amerygary based indie rock band played new music, featured new band members and a new light show  for approximately 50 people, who appeared to stay for both sets.

I arrived in time for the band to play their new single “In the Garden” and then take a break.

It was a solid song. It featured background vocals from new singer/ keyboardist Laura Schoenberg who added a beautiful vocal timbre to the band’s indie rock meets indie folk  sound.

She got to sing a long solo, as did guitarist Mike Buckley at the end of the first set.

They played enjoyable, entertaining upbeat yet mournful introspective music. Ben Nixon brought out the ukulele for  one of the more upbeat, rock influenced songs for the end of their second set.
