Albertans have really stepped up to support the wild fires that have devastated Fort McMurray. Lethbridge musicians have followed suit.
On Feb. 13 Trevor Panczak and Shane Chisholm payed a big fundraiser at Coyote Joes which raised $14,000 to support the victims of the fire, but  there Andi Ceron and Maggie Hall are excited abut their fundraiser for Fort McMurray. Photo by Richard Ameryis another big one planned for May 21 at the Smokehouse featuring an array of bands playing all day long, plus  a barbecue, silent auction and 50 50 draw. All of the proceeds from the $10 cover will be donated to the Fort McMurray Salvation Army.

“ The Red Cross is there where there is an emergency, but the Salvation Army is there all year long. It will  take Fort McMurray a long time to recover,” observed Maggie Hall, who is co-organizing the event with Andi Ceron.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with  the Mayor and or council members speaking followed by  the Lethbridge Firefighters Pipes and Drums.
They will be followed by  Bryan Horvat.

Crowsnest Pass classic rock trio Tres Hombres, who played Hall’s April 23 fundraiser for Parkinsons and Alzheimers, are on at 2 followed by WOMP, Oliver Wolffe and Calgary blues band the Eric Braun band who also played that fundraiser.
A new band of familiar faces featuring Andi Ceron on vocals, called Shooting for Mars are on at 6 p.m.

“ We play classic rock and disco. I sing Billy Jean. But honestly, I’m more excited to help organize the fundraiser than I am to play at it,” Ceron said.

Dory and the Weathermen will be playing at 7 p.m. followed by Kelly and the Bastards and the Mark Hall band, who wind things up and who also played the last fundraiser.
After that  they will open up the stage for an open mic.
Bossman Topilko from Taber will be playing tweener sets in between acts.
Hall and Ceron have not set a goal for the show. They hope the event will raise as much money as possible.
Everything begins at 1 p.m.  There is a  $10 cover.
