Jesse Thibert, who played Hamlet in last summer‘s production of Hamlet, will be directing this summer’s show.

Auditions for the  show will be at Casa, Thursday, Feb. 23 and Friday Feb. 24 from 6-9 p.m.. Callbacks will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26.

Auditioners will be asked to prepare a short monologue from a Shakespearean work, preferably Taming of the Shrew and may be asked to perfom additional cold readings from the script.

Taming of the Shrew is a beloved comedy about two young university students Lucentio and Hortensio hoping to woo the lovely Bianca, daughter of Father Baptista Minola. Except Baptista is adamant that she not wed until Bianca’s big sister, the ill tempered, vicious Katherine weds first.

So the duo pose as Bianca’s Latin and music tutors to get close to her while convincing their friend Petruccio to take on the challenge of successfully wooing Katherine. There are misunderstandings, misidentifications, disguises and plenty of playful wordplay and banter.

Performances will be most Thursdays and Fridays beginning in early July. There will also be a few Saturday shows and road trips to Nanton and High River.

Rehearsals will take place three nights a week beginning in May.

The 10 minute audition slots must be booked online https://forms.gle/x6g1SdywHrQV1Shz8.
